Stars of Sunderland - June Ainsley
"Every patient is a person, an individual, a human being.
And we've got to make sure, no matter what age and how far on they are in their dementia, that they have that dignity right up to the end."
June Ainsley works full time with autistic and special needs children. But due to the help she received from a dementia charity here in Sunderland when her mother was admitted to hospital, she now spends her free time organising fundraising campaigns.
Whether it's dressing as Elvis and visiting the guests, organising fundraising events such as the upcoming sponsored 'bed push' along the seafront, or organising collections for objects like hairdryers, pyjamas, underwear, toiletries, stationary and shampoo, which people would otherwise go without.
Stars of Sunderland, created by journalist James Barker, showcases people in Sunderland who have done amazing things in their community - and gives a little back to the people who go out of their way to do so much.
But before we begin today, we have some really good news to share…
